DD food Sukkur takes notice of Atta shortage

SUKKUR: The deputy director food Sukkur region, taking a serious notice of the reports of Atta shortage, has bound the flour mills/Chakkies to grind the entire quantity of wheat allowed to them by the government and provide Atta to the people at stabilised rates.

He said during the month of March, a quantity of 27,500 matric tons of wheat supplied for Sukkur division/region, out of which 15,000 matric tons were supplied for Sukkur district alone, and thus there should be no shortage of Atta in the market.

The deputy director also took serious view of the reports of black marketing of Atta. He therefore warned the flour mills and Chakkies to desist from hoarding wheat and raising the price of Atta. The following price of atta has been fixed for supplying to wholesalers:

Rs 700/- per bag of 80 kgs

Rs 178/- per pack of 20 kgs

Rs 88/- per pack of 10 kgs.

And in turn the retailers are allowed to sell in retail at the following rate:-

Rs 720/- per bag of 80 kgs

Rs 182/- per pack of 20 kgs

Rs 90/- per pack of 10 kgs.

The Flour Mills Association as a gesture of cooperation with the Food Department and curb the black marketing and stabilise the Atta price have established their own sale centres in various parts of the city where Atta being sold at the government rates.

The deputy director food, Sukkur region has advised the people to immediately bring to his notice if they feel any difficulty in getting Atta, on Telephone No. 612355, in his office at Station Road, Sukkur.
