Brazil's real erases early losses to end flat

SAO PAULO: Brazil's real currency erased early losses to end little changed at 1.735 per dollar on Tuesday after the US Federal Reserve decided to keep its rate hike within expectations, traders said.

The real closed at 1.737 on Monday.

Still, trade was slim because the Fed's decision to raise two key interest rates by a modest amount came toward the end of the day, traders said.

Wednesday, the market is likely to be quiet for a second day as investors await a rates decision from the Brazilian Central Bank's monetary policy committee (Copom). Most investors expect the Copom to maintain the current rate. -Reuters
