role applauded
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: Maqsood Ismail, Chairman, Export Processing Zones Authority, has applauded the role of Korean investors who are very collaborative in various mega projects in Pakistan.
During the visit of a 12-member Korean trade delegation to Karachi Export Processing Zone early this week, the EPZA Chairman invited Korean businessmen to invest in KEPZ by setting up a single-country zone to cater for the specific requirements of Korean investors.
The Korean delegation was led by Kim Hyuk Kyu, Governor, Kyungnam province, and included Kong Min-Bae, Mayor of Chongwon city. According to a EPZA press release issued on Wednesday, Maqsood Ismail elaborated that the Zone offered advantages of cheap labour as compared with Korea and excellent infra-structure facilities alongwith good communication network of airport, seaport and railways in its close proximity.
He was optimistic that Koreans, having made significant investment in Bangladesh, would also come forward with similar investment projects in EPZs in Pakistan.
Kim Hyuk-Kyu said that Korea had adopted the same policy of industrial expansion through EPZs of Korea. Now it is the 12th largest trading nation of the world. Hyuk Kyu appreciated the effective role of EPZA in taking appropriate measures for foreign investment and assured Korean collaboration in EPZs of Pakistan.
