LAHORE: An exhibition of contemporary jewellery by Shakil Ismail will open at the Croweaters Gallery at the Mall here on March 25.

The exhibition will continue till April 4 from 10.30 am to 7.30 pm.

Shakil Ismail is known for his superior award winning calligraphic works in traditional metal form. He has found new expression in contemporary jewellry as an art form.

Shakil's current pieces are intricate yet delicate earrings, pendants and locket set in crystal, agate, quartz and lapis juxtaposed with axidized and gold plated metals reveal original and exciting work.

The most interesting of these geometric patterns are found in hairpins and "taweez" in which stones are inlaid and coiled in gold plated metal.

His unique sculptures and wall hanging with Quranic verses are fine interplay of line, form, texture and tone. His use of different media like copper, bronze and brass; and his experimentation with chemicals has resulted in a personal and invidualistic style.ÑPPI
