Essentials' prices on increase

ISLAMABAD: Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) shows increase in the value of some of the most essential kitchen items during the last week ended on March 14, 2000.

According to SPI average prices of 11 essential kitchen items registered increase, eight declined and the value of 28 items remained unchanged.

Average prices of the following 11 items registered increase: tomatoes 9.9 percent, bananas 1.1 percent, onions 0.9 percent, gur 0.8 percent, rice basmati (broken) and mash pulse 0.5 percent each, gram pulse and potatoes 0.3 percent each, wheat 0.2 percent and chicken farm and milk fresh 0.1 percent.

However, average prices of following eight items registered decrease: garlic 3 percent, wheat flour 0.8 percent, rice irri-6 0.7 percent, moong pulse 0.6 percent, eggs and vegetable ghee (tin) 0.3 percent each, mustard oil 0.2 percent and sugar 0.1 percent.

Meanwhile, the value of following 28 items remained unchanged: masoor pulse, beef, mutton, bread, milk powdered, curd, vegetable ghee, cooking oil, salt powdered, red chillies, tea packet/prepared, cooked beef/dal, cigarettes (K-2), coarse latha, lawn, voil printed, shirting, sandal gents/ladies, chappal sponge, kerosene, firewood, electric bulb (60 Watt), match box, washing and bath soaps.
