Dhaka peace rally draws Clinton's attention to Kashmir issue

DHAKA: A peace procession held here on Monday, demanded the solution of Kashmir problem in accordance with the UN Resolutions on Kashmir.

The procession was organised by World Muslim Brotherhood Council (WMBC) to draw the attention of the visiting US President Bill Clinton, towards the problem of Kashmir.

In a pre-procession rally the speakers urged that US President to fulfil his commitment that he made during the Kargil conflict.

Presided over by WMBC President Ainul Islam the rally was addressed among others by WMBC Secretary General Miraj Abbasi, editor of the 'Friday Review' Faruq Reza, Secretary General of Bangladesh Imam Samaj Moulana, Ataur Rahman, President of Bangladesh Democratic Party (BDP) Sardar Shahadat Hossain, etc.

WMBC Secretary General, Miraj Abbasi, in his speech welcomed the US President on behalf of the people of Bangladesh and urged him to play his due role in implementing the UN resolutions on Kashmir.

"If plebiscite is held in Kashmir, the Kashmiris will surely vote in favour of independence and reject Indian occupation and domination," he said.

"We demand the implementation of UN resolutions that pledged to hold plebiscite under its supervision," he added.

Urging Clinton to intervene in Kashmir he said, "Please help the oppressed people of Kashmir end their misseries as you committed during the Kargil conflict. APP
