Eid-ul-Azha

celebrated

with religious zeal

ISLAMABAD: Eid-ul-Azha was observed throughout the country on Friday with religious zeal and fervour and a renewed pledge to transform Pakistan into a true Islamic welfare state.

The day dawned with special prayers for solidarity, stability, security and integrity of Pakistan, liberation of Kashmir from the Indian yoke, success of other Islamic movements in different parts of the world and return of peace to Afghanistan.

Ulema in their sermons highlighted the significance of Eid-ul-Azha which signifies that the Allah Almighty showers bounties on those who are ready all the times to render any kind of sacrifice in his way.

Sacrificial animals were slaughtered to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) who slained his son Hazrat Ismail (AS) on the command of Allah Almighty.

It was a public holiday, newspapers published special supplements while the Pakistan Television and the Radio Pakistan presented programmes packed with entertainment as well as information to the listeners and viewers, adding to the joice of the day.

Eid-ul-Azha was offered at over 300 mosques, Imam Bargahs and open places in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The biggest Eid congregation was held at grand Faisal Mosque where President Rafiq Tarar, ambassadors of Islamic countries and senior government officers also offered their prayers.

Elaborate security arrangements had been made to avert any untoward incident on the Eid day. The district administrations of the major cities had already been asked to make special arrangements to ensure security to the people outside the mosques and Imam Barghas and at parks, markets and recreational spots.

KARACHI

KARACHI: Eid-ul-Azha was observed in Karachi on March 17 with zeal and fervour and a renewed pledge to transform Pakistan into a true Islamic welfare state.

The day began with Namaz-e-Fajr and special prayers for solidarity, stability, security and integrity of Pakistan, liberation of Kashmir from the Indian yoke, success of other Islamic movements in different parts of the world and return of peace to Afghanistan.

Some 6,10,000 animals were offered in Karachi to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) who offered his son Hazrat Ismail (AS) to be sacrificed on the command of Allah, Almighty.

In Karachi prayer of Eid-ul-Azha was offered at over 700 mosques, Imambargahs and open places. The biggest Eid congregation was held at Bagh-e-Quaid-e-Azam where Governor Sindh Air Marshal M Azim Daudpota (Retd) and senior government officers offered their Eid prayer.

LAHORE

LAHORE: Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated throughout the country including Azad Jammu and Kashmir with traditional religious fervour on Friday.

Scores of congregational prayers were held early in the morning followed by slaughter of sacrificial animals to commemorate the great sacrifice offered by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and his son Hazrat Ismail (AS).

In Lahore, mass congregations were held at over 400 Eidgahs, mosques, open places, playground, etc. The biggest congregation was held at the Badshahi Mosque where the Punjab Governor Lt Gen Mohammad Safdar (Retd) offered his Eid prayer.

Other big congregations were held at Jamia Masjid Data Darbar, Muslim Masjid, Masjid Neela Gumbad, Jamia Mansoora, Minhajul Quran, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Gol Bagh, Masjid Wazir Khan, Jamia Ashrafia, Jamia Naeemia, Jamia Rehmania etc.

The district administration adopted special security measures to maintain law and order. While law enforcers were guarding the places where Eid congregations were held. However, no untoward incident was reported from any part of the provincial metropolis or its suburban localities.

The Muslims will continue to slaughter sacrificial animals till Sunday noon.

QUETTA

QUETTA: Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated through out Balochistan including Quetta with religious zeal and traditional fervour on Friday.

Eid prayers were offered at over a 100 places including main mosques, Eidgahs and open places. 'Ulema' and 'Khateeb' highlighted the significance of the day and explained the philosophy of sacrifice and renunciation for will of Allah. They prayed to Allah for progress, prosperity and unity of Muslim 'Ummah' and liberation of occupied Kashmir, Chechnya and other Muslim land.

The followers sacrificed hundreds of thousands of animals to commemorate the supreme sacrifice rendered by prophet of Allah Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and his son Hazrat Ismail (AS).

The Governor of Balochistan celebrated Eid-ul-Azha at his ancestral town Nushki and offered Eid prayer there.

KASUR

KASUR: Eid-ul-Azha was observed in the district with religious fervour and zeal and a renewed pledge to transform Pakistan into a true Islamic welfare state.

Eid congregations were held in all the major mosques and grounds of the district including Kasur, Mustafabad, Kot Radha Kishan, Khadian, Ilahabad, Changa Manga, Chunian, Phool Nagar, Pattoki, etc.

Ulema in their sermons highlighted the significance of Eid-ul-Azha which signifies that the Allah Almighty showers bounties on those who are ready all times to render any kind of sacrifice in his way.

Sacrificial animals were slaughtered to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) who slained his son Hazrat Ismail (AS) on the command of Allah Almighty.
