GM southern telecom office shifted to Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The regional office of the General Manager, Southern Telecommunication Region (STR)-I, Karachi, has been shifted to Hyderabad and started functioning on Wednesday.

The jurisdiction of the general manager STR-I extends over eight districts of Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas divisions and it was the long-standing demand of the telephone subscribers that the office should be shifted to Hyderabad as it had no business to remain in Karachi. The government had earlier resisted the move due to political pressure.

However, taking advantage of the present situation, the PTCL has immediately shifted the regional manager's office to Hyderabad. The subscribers will now be saved from the trouble of going to Karachi to get their day-to-day problems resolved.

General Manager Noor Mohammad Akhund on Wednesday met with a large number of people who expressed satisfaction over the shifting of office, which has been housed in the central telegraph office compound near Gul Centre Thandi Sarak.
