Israel charges suspect spying for Lebanon
JERUSALEM: A resident of Israel of Lebanese origin has been arrested and charged with passing information to Lebanese intelligence agencies, a prisons authority spokeswoman said on Thursday.
She said the suspect would be tried later this month behind closed doors before three judges and would be represented by an attorney.
The suspect was not named and no other details were given.
Israel is still in a state of war with Lebanon and occupies a buffer zone in south Lebanon which it set up in 1985 with the declared aim of preventing cross-border guerrilla attacks. Lebanese guerrillas are fighting Israeli troops in the zone.
