Cinema loses license on hosting political meeting

FAISALABAD: The district magistrate, Faisalabad, has cancelled the licence of the local Bambino Cinema on the charges of holding PML workers convention and using the cinema premises for political purpose without prior permission of local administration.

Choudhry Safdar Rehman suspended MNA and Faisalabad PML president is the owner of this cinema house who allowed to use the premises for PML workers convention on March 13, which was addressed by Kalsoom Nawaz wife of deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif. It was also participated by former governor Punjab and president PML Punjab, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa and general secretary PML Punjab, Rana Nazir Ahmad in addition to eight deposed MNAs and five MPAs belong to Faisalabad division.

Gulberg and factory area police has already registered two separate cases against political activists on the charge of delivering anti-government speeches, passing derogatory remarks against government. In this connection District Magistrate had also issued a show cause notice to the cinema management.

Cinema manager, who appeared before the District Magistrate Faisalabad, submitted a written application stating that their lawyer was out of city and time may be granted for formal submission of reply to the show cause notice. District Magistrate did not accept the plea and cancelled the cinema licence.

According to a latest report, local police has arrested more than 30 PML workers, while remaining is still at large.
