movement in Sindh lifted

KARACHI: The Sindh government has lifted ban on inter-district movement of wheat in the province with immediate effect.

However, this relaxation will be allowed only upto Eid-ul-Azha during which transportation of wheat from interior of Sindh to Karachi will be permissible.

Official sources maintained that inter-provincial ban will be enforced strictly to ensure that no wheat is smuggled out of Sindh.

The action has been taken to ensure normalisation in the supply of wheat flour on government prices. The position will be further reviewed after Eid-ul-Azha, official sources said.

It may be mentioned here that a meeting was held at the office of Commissioner Karachi on the directive of Chief Secretary Sindh to look into the causes of increase in atta prices in Karachi.

The representatives of flour mills association had assured that atta is available all over Karachi and they are getting proper supply of wheat for their mills.

A committee formed under Commissioner Karachi had also visited various markets of Karachi to ensure that atta is available on government prices.ÑAPP
