High prices of
sacrificial animals
keep buyers away
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: Sales of sacrificial animals remain sluggish as compared with last year due to extraordinarily high prices and less supply of animals.
The sale is expected to reach its peak in the next two days. Marketmen said this year the demand for cows is higher as compared with last year. Prices of an average size cow range from Rs 14,000 to Rs 20,000.
Prices of goat and sheep range from Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000.
This year, the government has imposed a ban on selling sacrificial animals in the city and allowed sale only at Super Highway near Maymar Housing Scheme.
Some sellers tried to set up a market at University Road but this attempt was foiled by the law enforcing agencies.
