unchained
ISLAMABAD: Federal Ministers Abbas Sarfraz and Derick Cyprian along with Dr Attiya Inayatullah, member National Security Council unchained human rights activist Ansar Burney and his eleven companion on Wednesday afternoon.
They sought permission from Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf to leave the Cabinet meeting for a brief period for the purpose.
The UN representatives also helped them to unchain human rights activists.
Dr Attiya Inayatullah while talking to newsmen on the occasion said Chief Executive Pervez Musharraf has also sent greetings for Ansar Burney and his companions.
The human rights activists had chained themselves before UN office situated in Saudi Pak Tower at 7 p.m on Tuesday with the demand that they will not release themselves unless innocent Kashmiris are unchained from Indian yoke. They spent whole night under the open sky amidst low temperature.
Dr Attiya Inayatullah while addressing the UN representatives on the occasion and later talking to newsmen said time has come to settle Kashmir dispute otherwise it will engulf the whole world in tense war. Inviting the attention of the UN towards the plight of Kashmiris she said India should stop state terrorism forthwith.
She said there is 'humanitarian emergency' in the Occupied Kashmir because thousands of women have become widows and children orphans, and there is nobody to look after them.
The member NSC said, being Kashmiri hereself, she will request President Bill Clinton to devote one of the five days to Kashmiris and visit Srinagar where he should have dialogue with Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf to resolve the issue.
She said Pakistan wants parleys with India to solve the issue. The UN should take sue moto action on Kashmir and it should not allow India to continue its oppression there.ÑAPP
