Irrigation water
module adjusted
KARACHI: Sindh government has decided to adjust the irrigation water modules to ensure equitable distribution of water to farmers and particularly the tail enders.
The matter came under discussion at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Provincial Irrigation Minister A. N. G. Abbasi.
It was decided that modules getting water more than the due share, will be adjusted by the Irrigation Department before Kharif next.
The minister said the government's effort would be to ensure provision of sufficient irrigation water to tail enders so that they could cultivate their land in time and thus help increase agriculture productivity.
He directed that strict action would be taken against those tampering with the canal modules. Such elements would be imposed heavy lines, he said.
The minister said that NGOs would also be approached to seek their help and assistance in the checking of tampered modules.ÑAPP
