Eastern region recovers Rs 9,803 million in eight month

Lahore: The Income Tax Department's eastern region has collected a total amount of Rs 9,803 million in terms of income tax and wealth tax during the last eight months (from July 1999, to February 2000).

According to Income Tax Department officials, out of the said amount, Rs 990 million were collected only in February. This figure also includes Rs 950 as wealth tax.

The officials said out of the total figure of Rs 9,803 million, Rs 490 million were accumulated as wealth tax, while Rs 9,313 million as income tax, which is Rs 160 million more than the amount collected during the same period of fiscal 1998-99.

During the same eight months of fiscal 1998-99, the eastern region's revenue receipts amounted to Rs 8,643 million, which also included Rs 384 million wealth tax, they added.
