KARACHI: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) held a seminar recently on tax amnesty scheme 2000 to discuss the salient features.

Speaking on the occasion, Z. H. Jafri, a tax expert, explained the scheme as a voluntary declaration of their assets by all tax payers with a 10 percent interest on the amount declared. This included cases which were already pending for the declaration was April 30, 2000.

He said that the preliminary examination of the assets declared should be fair and just, and that the time required for declaration of the assets was too throat choking. It should be extended up to June 30 and if possible to December 2000, he said Shabbar Zaidi, FCA also spoke.
