Jamote returns forex for missed Rome visit

ISLAMABAD: Minister for food, agriculture and livestock, Dr. Shafqat Ali Shah Jamote has returned the foreign exchange given to him for representing the country at FAO meeting in Rome, which he could not attend.

Informed sources said that Dr. Jamote and secretary ministry of economic affairs division, Naveed Ahsan were to attend the meeting from Feb 16-18. They had to travel to Italy via Greece from Karachi and all the necessary arrangements were made.

The secretary EAD left for Rome according to the plan while the federal minister, Dr Jamote went to Dubai to take a flight for Italy, as he missed the flight from the country. But he got stranded there and proceeded on private visit to United Kingdom, which he had to visit after attending the meeting, while the country was represented by the Naveed Ahsan at the meeting.

The demand of Minfal the minister refunded the total amount in foreign exchange equalling to Rs 0.2 million, sources claimed.
