Bid to smuggle heroin foiled

Lahore: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), with the assistance of Airport Security Force, on Monday foiled a bid to smuggle three kg of heroin abroad and arrested the accused.

On a tip off, an ANF team headed by Col Manzoor Akbar, Joint Director and comprising Assistant Directors Capt. Farooq Aziz, Riaz Soomro and Inspector Ahmed Baig, checked the luggage of the passengers of an Amsterdam-bound flight PK 753 and recovered 3 kg of heroin from the hand bag of Mohammad Tariq Rajput. The team arrested the accused.

According to ANF, the accused was a resident of Kotli, Azad Kashmir, and had two wives. One of his wives belongs to Spain. He had also a big general store in Spain. Earlier, he has also been living in Saudi Arabia for 10 years. The accused, according to ANF officials is associated with international gangs of smugglers.
