Asghar for disbanding Zakat, Bait-ul-Maal bodies before LB polls

LAHORE: Chief of Tehrik-e-Istaqlal Air Marshal Asghar Khan (Retd), has called upon the government to disband Bait-ul-Maal and Zakat & Usher Committees before holding Local Bodies Elections to ensure its transparency.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he said that government should constitute public development committees in their place. He said that members of the Bait-ul-Maal and Zakat & Usher Committees could use their influence and wealth to manipulate results of the local bodies polls.
About the performance of the present government ,he said its direction was right and people with the government were not wrong. He said the nation should support the present government and it should be given at least two years.
He stated that the record of his party shows that it always guided the masses of the country and in the present circumstances too it would not mislead them.
To a question that whether he was becoming Prime Minister, he said he was not in contact with the rulers. He said that the President working was alright and there was no need to replace him. He denied that he was going to be Prime Minister in any interim set-up.
Asghar Khan claimed that the public wanted accountability of all sections including judiciary and the army. He said that the election commission should be made free of all political influence and the constitutiences and polling stations should be increased.
