Akbari Mandi not much active

LAHORE: Activity remained low on Akbari Mandi here on Monday.

Dealers said though it was the first day of the week, there was no considerable improvement in their transactions. Of the Customers' turnout remained below average, they added. They said that this time there was no traditional 'Eid rush' this time. However, they were unable to describe any reason for this sluggishness.

"It seems the purchasing power of people has diminised," said a whole-sale dealer. However, he expressed the hope that business is likely to pick up on Tuesday or the day after as the Eid is approaching.

There was no change in the prices of essential commodities including sugar and ghee.
