Air chief chairs annual flight safety review meeting

ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Parvez Mehdi Qureshi presided over the annual flight safety review for the pervious year at Air Headquarters Chaklala on Saturday.

The year 1999 saw flight safety notch, an all time low accident rate in the annals of PAF history.

It is the second consecutive year that PAF has minimised its aircraft losses thus making it a safer and one of the most professional air forces in the world.

Air Chief Marshal Parvaiz Mehdi Qureshi, addressing on the occasion said, "PAF has always prided itself on the credo of professional excellence which has stood us in good stead when faced with any volatile situation.

Officers and men of the air force are proud inheritors of a legacy of warriors who have left an indelible imprint on history.

The new millennium is not only a challenge to uphold our glorious traditions but also to add new substance and meaning to them".

The air chief paid rich tributes to the dedication and hard work put in by the field commanders and men under their command, as well as the flight safety staff at Air Headquarters in achieving remarkable results in the arena of flight safety.

The annual flight safety review takes into consideration the important aspects of flight safety in the air force.

A detailed and thorough analysis of all dimensions of flight safety in which major and minor accidents of the previous year came under close security.

In the end of the review the deeds of those who contributed positively towards an improved flight safety were also recognised.

In today's proceedings the coveted inter Base Flight Safety Trophy was won by PAF Base Rafiqui and Sarfraz Ahmad Rafiqui flight Safety Trophy for the Squadron with best safety standards was awarded to No. 26 Squadron.ÑAPP
