Massive growth on Kenya Airways network
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The Kenya Airways summer schedule indicates a massive growth on the network with three new destinations: Muscat, Jeddah and Malpensa, an extra 19 new frequencies and an ambitious introduction of services with the ultimate goal to launch twice weekly operations within key African destinations.
Managing Director Richard Nyaga said that the airlines growth plans were on schedule and they reflected the strategy to position the airline as the carrier of choice in Africa operating from the Nairobi hub.
On fleet plans, Nyaga said that Kenya Airways is the first airline to purchase the latest version of the Boeing 767-400 ER, which will add further payload and range capability.
Technical Director Steve Clarke said the airlines fleet plan has been under discussion with aircraft manufacturers over the last two years. There was "commercial need to replace the Airbus A-310s due to size and customer appeal for better inflight entertainment systems not available in the current Airbus fleet."
