through balloting
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: More than 1,000 industrial plots would be allotted through computer balloting among 1,257 applicants in the Site on Super Highway on March 24.
This decision was taken on Saturday at a meeting of Board of Directors of SITE Limited held under the chairmanship of provincial Industries Minister, Dewan Muhammad Yousuf Farooqui.
The 10,000 acres of land in Super Highway Site had been allotted already in 1992, out of which 511,51 acres was available for carving out industrial plots. Site has carved out 1023 plots of half acre each for allotment.
The Site Board meeting has also decided to allow exemption from payment of non-utilization fee (NUF) till June 2001, on plots in Nooriabad Industrial Estate.
The estate has been a priority issue for the government and efforts are underway to improve infrastructure and provision of utilities in the estate. The exemption in NUF has been allowed as an incentive to allottees.
The meeting granted two acres to the Pakistan Silk and Rayon Mills Association in Site area for expansion of its training institute, set up in collaboration with the Export Processing Zone Authority.
The board while considering the issue of rates for some plots at Site Karachi, decided to charge old rates in the interest of industrialization.
The board also approved a welfare grant of Rs 2.2 million for the employees of Site Limited.
