IESCO announces

incentives for sick

industrial units

ISLAMABAD: Chief Executive Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Brig Waseem Zafar said on Thursday, Wapda has decided to restore power supply of sick industrial units after receiving only 10 percent down-payment of the stuck up dues.

This will help accelerate industrial activities in the country, he said while talking to newsmen.

The chairman said a new system "Time Off Day" is being introduced for industries to give them facilities.

Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (IESCO) has also decided to give new connections to all agricultural tube-wells only on 25 percent down payment, he informed.

The company has already announced an incentive package for farmers to facilitate them in the payment of three months electricity bills of tube-wells without surcharge during wheat season, the chairman said.

About the replacement of meters, IESCO chief said, more than 43,000 defective meters have been replaced and an exercise to shift metres outside the houses is under way in the jurisdiction of the company.

He said, a new grid station of 200 kw has been completed at Sangjani having six feeders to improve the supply of electricity to Islamabad other adjoining areas.

The chief executive of the company said, a transparent policy was adopted for recruitment and the process of accountability has been initiated within the department.

He said, 43 officials found involved in corrupt practices were dismissed, removed or forced to retire including one XEN, Attaullah.

IESCO gave 75362 new electricity connections under one window operation for granting new connections which are 31 percent more than previous year, he maintained.

All pending cases of new connections will be disposed of within next 10 days and new connections will be given in two weeks, the chief said.

A number of other projects were started at the cost of Rs 17 million which will be completed by the end of next month, he added.ÑAPP
