Clinton must
meet political
leadership, says
Raja Zafar
ISLAMABAD: Convenor of Central Coordination Council of Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Raja Mohammad Zaffarul Haq has demanded of the US President Bill Clinton to hold meetings with the political leadership and use his influence for the restoration of democracy in Pakistan.
Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, he said although his visit was announced after a long consultations and delay and infact it will be a short visit. "But PML believes that something is better than nothing and it will help in de-escalation of the tention between Pakistan and India besides early restoration of democracy in the country".
To a question, Raja Zaffarul Haq said Clinton should hold dialogues with all the political party leaders and should listen their point of view as it can help for the restoration of democracy in the country.
Clinton should get announce from the chief executive a final time frame for the restoration of democracy besides transfer of power to the elected representatives, he added.
He said Clinton as per his promises should take personal interest to resolve the Kashmir issue as relations cannot be normalise between Pakistan and India without resolving the issue.
He observed that India should not be made a permanent member of United Nations Security Council until the Kashmir issue is resolved.
Welcoming the decision as India is not being made the permanent member of the UN Security Council, he said a country who is violating the UN resolutions for the last 52 years has not right to become its permanent member.ÑPPI
