No mosque means
no Eid prayer for
Syrian negotiators
SHEPHERDSTOWN (West Virginia): The lack of a mosque in this tiny town will force Syrian negotiators at peace talks here with Israel to skip the Salat-el-Eid on Saturday.
Practising Muslim members of the Syrian delegation are to break the practice of dawn-to-dusk fasting at sundown on Friday, the last day of Ramazan during which the Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Saturday is Eid-ul-Fitr feast marking the end of Ramazan and Muslims celebrate it by visiting the graves of their lost loved ones and with a special prayer at dawn.
But the Salat-el-Eid should be held in a mosque.
Syrian Foreign Minister Faruq-al-Shara and his delegation will cebebrate the Eid at a lunch at the Clarion Hotel, where US, Israeli and Syrian delegates have been ensconced since Monday.ÑAFP
