Islamabad security beefed up
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad federal capital territory (ICT) administration, as a precautionary measure to ensure complete peace on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, has beefed up security arrangements.
The ICT administration has also chalked out a comprehensive security plan to ensure peace and tranquillity in the capital and to avert any untoward incident.
Deputy Commissioner Hamid Ali Khan has directed all the hospitals in Islamabad to remain on "high alert" during Eid holidays.
He has also directed the fire brigade to remain alert.
All the Mosques and Imambargahs, where Eid congregations prayers will take place, would be adequately protected and kept under strict vigilance.
Under Section 144 Cr P C has been imposed a ban on all kinds of wall chalking, and hand bills which could hurt the feelings of different religious groups.
Section 144 has also been imposed against the misuse of loudspeakers and amplifiers without prior permission except 'Azan' and 'Khutba' in the capital.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been asked to remove all objectionable wall chalking in the capital and this activity was being coordinated by all sub divisional magistrates along with concerned SDPOs and SHOs.
The duty staff and mobile patrols would be available at Eidgahs, Mosques, Chand Raat Bazaars and shopping centres.
SDMs magistrates with SDPOs/SHOs will continue patrolling at random, especially during Eid prayers, in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
It would also be ensured that no harassment is caused to general public and law abiding citizens during random checking.
Afghan kachchi abadis will be kept on strict surveillance and guest houses and hotels would be checked and scrutinised from time to time in coordination with local police.
Police pickets would also be set up at all important entry and exit points and it will be ensured by police that no arms are transported into city by undesirable elements.
Constant liaison would be maintained with members of peace committees and khateebs. Bomb disposal squad will remain available at short notice and all public places, parks, play grounds would be kept under strict vigilance and security cover, particularly, on Eid day and the following day.
A control room has been established in the office of the additional deputy commissioner (G) Islamabad which will be manned round-the-clock. APP
