'Assemblies not being restored'
KARACHI: An official spokesman on Saturday strongly contradicted a news item that the government was considering the restoration of suspended assemblies.
"The news item is baseless, untrue and a figment of imagination," the spokesman said while referring to the statement made by Pakistan Muslim League's (PML) vice president Mian Khurshid Kasuri, published in a section of the press on Saturday.
"The government has no plan to restore suspended assemblies, as already stated by Chief Executive General Parvez Musharraf," the spokeman said.
He said the government was strictly adhering to its agenda of national cohensin, harmony, political stability and revival of national economy. "To achieve this objective, appropriate steps have already been taken by the government which were showing positive results," he added. APP
