Add: Eid-ul-Fitr today

In Lahore, the biggest Eid congregation will be held at the historic Badshahi mosque where the Punjab Governor, Lt Gen Mohammad Safdar (Retd), will offer prayers, while identical congregations will also take place at Data Darbar, Masjid Shuhada, Masjid Wazir Khan, Jamia Mosque, Tehrik Minhaj-ul-Quran and Bagh-e-Jinnah, Lawrence Road. Eid prayers will also be offered at Karbala Gamey Shah and Islampura mosque.

Special prayers for the liberation of all occupied Muslim territories including held Jammu and Kashmir, Palestine, Bosnia and Chechenya will be offered, and for strengthening the national solidarity, integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan.

Ulema and Khateebs from different schools of thought will deliver special sermons and lectures to highlight the significance of this sacred festival, and call upon the Muslim people from all walks of life to follow the teachings of Islam and mould their lives in accordance with the cardinal principles of Islam.

Religious scholars from diverse schools of thought will stress upon the need of forging unity in the ranks of the Muslim ummah, to shun pretty differences and unite against the evil forces which are bent to create hatred among the various sects of Islamic society, for their nefarious motives.

Soon after the Eid prayers, Muslims as usual will visit their relatives, friends and dear ones to exchange greetings and gifts.

Punjab IG Prisons Ziaul Hassan told APP that special arrangements have also been made within the premises of all jails across the province for offering Eid prayers, and all Superintendennts, Deputy and Assistant Superintendents have been directed to offer prayers along with the inmates in their respective prisons.

Lahore Zoo Director Dr Arshad Haroon Toosi told APP this afternoon that the Zoo management has also made special arrangements to present a variety of programmes to attract more visitors during the Eid holidays.

In Hyderabad the main Eid congregations would be held at Eid Gah Thandi Sarak, Zam Zam Mosque, Hali Road; Masjid-e-Aqsa, Latifabad Unit 6; Bagh-e-Mustafa Ground, Latifabad Unit 8; Jamia Mosque, Latifabad Unit 5, Masjid Abul-Fazal Abbas, Qadam Gah Moula Ali; Mehfil-e-Hussain, Masjid Haider Karrar, Karbala Dadan Shah; Masjid Amir Muavia, Cattle Colony; Bhai Khan Chowk and Mubarik Masjid, Aisha Park Latifabad Unit 8.

Ulema and Khatibs in their sermons would highlight the significance of Eid-ul-Fitr and the holy month of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak. Special prayers for the integrity, solidarity and prosperity of the country would also be offered.

The district administration has also made strict security arrangements during Eid days in order to avoid any untoward incident. Special arrangements for cleanliness of the city have also been made by the concerned departments.ÑAPP
