The rupee maintained its overnight level against the greenback in the open currency market on Friday.
The dollar was traded at Rs. 53.70 and Rs. 53.80, as its buying and selling rates respectively. According to Mian Aamir Sohail of Mian Money Exchange, the dollar went up because of its demand from the dealers.
He said that the currency dealers always wanted to keep holdings in the foreign currency, particularly, when market was going to close for over two-three days.
It is premature to assess the market trend after the Eid-ul-Fitr, therefore, the investors who were reluctant to invest in the currency business stayed away from the market.
