LCCI concerned over increasing lawlessness
RECORDER REPORT
LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry acting President, Sheikh Mohammad Asif, and Vice President, Sarmad Amin, have expressed grave concern over the increasing lawlessness in the country, in general, and crimes against traders in particular.
In a joint press statement issued here on Thursday, they said that dacoits had been on a looting spree in the city markets, which was evident from the fact that during the last 10 days alone three shops located on the Cooper Road had been looted and police had neither taken any action so far nor any arrest had been made.
They appealed to the Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf, and Governor Punjab, Lt. Gen. Mohammad Safdar (Retd), who had already shown concern over the law and order situation in the province, to take necessary action in this regard.
If the growing lawlessness was not dealt with an iron hand, economic activities would come to a grinding halt, resulting in further unemployment, they added.
