Labour Laws to be reviewed in March: Asghar
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Environment, Local Government, Rural Development, Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis, Omar Ashgar Khan has said that a round table conference to evolve consensus on labour laws will be convened in March, 2000.
This was observed by the Minister in a meeting to review the Labour laws with Mr. Justice Shafi-ur-Rehman (Retd), Chairman of the Commission on Simplification, Rationalisation and Consolidation of Labour Laws, here on Thursday.
The minister stressed for adopting participatory approach to evolve the consensus of all the relevant sections of society such as representatives of employees and employers, experts on Labour laws and Industrial Relations and other stake holders.
"The government will hold a round table conference on Labour Laws and Industrial Relations in March, 2000 to evolve consensus and ensure large scale participation of all sections of society," the minister said.
Omar Asghar Khan also emphasised the need of healthy Industrial relations so that the employers and the employees can work in unison to increase the productivity which would go long way in achieving the objective of economic revival pursued vigorously by the present government. The minister also called for effective enforcement of labour laws through increasing the efficiency of the government machinery. APP
