Nasreen Anjum new CPU chief

LAHORE: Well-known broadcaster Nasreen Anjum Bhatti has taken over as new chief of Central Production Unit (CPU) of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Lahore with immediate effect, official sources told APP. A seasoned broadcaster has on her credit number of programmes which she produced during prolonged service of the PBC spanning over more than two decades, particularly, in the field of current affairs, which she had been looking after before taking over the new assignment. Ms Bhatti is the spouse of Zubair Rana, a journalist.ÑAPP

PTCL mobile service by March

CHICHAWATNI: PTCL mobile service will be launched by March. All arrangements have been finalised in this regard. This was stated by Assistant Engineer Phones, Chichawatni, Allah Dad Nasir here on Thursday. He said the PTCL mobile would provide cheap service than other mobile companies and people can get more facility from this service. He also said the PTCL is considering to provide free incoming service to its clients. He refuted the impression that the PTCL is delaying to launch mobile service because of the pressure of some private companies.ÑAPP

Rs 2 million for Ali Hajvari's Mazar

LAHORE: The Punjab Auqaf Department has sanctioned Rs 2 million for the beautification, construction and repair of the tomb of Mazar Hazrat Ali Hajvari (Data Gunj Bakhsh). Auqaf Secretary Rafique Bokhari said here on Wednesday that an airconditioning system would also be installed at Mazar. He said not only tomb would be made beautiful but corridors would also be made more attractive.ÑAPP

Punjab education dept seeks lists of transfers

MUZAFFARGARH: Punjab Education Department has sought the lists of transfers from DEO which was conducted during the period of October 12 to December 31, 1999. According to official circular many teachers and other non-teaching staff had been transferred in the above mentioned dates.ÑAPP

LUMS in world debating contest

LAHORE: The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) has sent two teams of debators to participate in the World Universities Debating Championship, being held in Sidney Australia, from January 4 to 11. The teams include Bilal Murtaza Siddiqui, Hammad Rehman, Usman Ahmed, Waqas Haroon Moosa. The debating championship is being contested by 225 universities from 28 different countries.ÑAPP
