Governor's help sought for regular water supply to Site area

KARACHI: Acting chairman of Site Association of Industry (SAI) Mohammad Nisar Shekhani in a letter to the Sindh Governor has urged him to direct Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) to supply maximum water or at least 15 MGD to Site industrial area so that units can start functioning.

He appealed to him to look into this important matter and issue strict orders to the KWSB that water to Site area be supplied on regular and permanent basis.

He said for the last three days the supply of water has been between 300,000 to 400,000 gallons on average per day which is very meagre quantity for more than 2,000 industrial units.

He said Pakistan at this point of time is in dire need of foreign exchange and that can only be earned if value-added export industry is supported and facilities are provided in production of the export goods, and this is the only situation to improve Pakistan's trade imbalance to boost the value-added export.

Here the situation is that some hidden hands are working to reduce exports by restricting the supply of water to Site industrial area.
