Daudputa distributes Eid gifts

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Azim Daudpota has called upon the people of Sindh to shun the politics of ethnicity and regionalism and promote brotherhood and oneness among themselves.
He was addressing people on the occasion of Eid gift distribution at the Annoo Bhai Park, Nazimabad, on Thursday. He distributed more than 5500 gifts packets among the Mustahiqeen (needy people).
The governor said that they should forget all the bitterness, if there was any and forge unity among themselves and that would be the most befitting way of celebrating first Eid of the new millennium.
He said that those who were not able to celebrate Eid in proper manner, needed our help. "By helping the needy and sharing the moments of joy with them is what we are expected to do. It is the most appropriate way of celebrating Eid," he added.
Daudpota thanked the philanthropists and for their valuable contribution to the Eid gift stock.
The administration of District Central had issued Zakat Cards to registered Mustahiqeen (people eligible for charity) who were given Eid gifts. These people included handicapped persons as well.
The gift packets had cloth, atta, ghee, sugar, rice, dried milk, vermicelli, laziza kheer, tea, biscuits, shoes and other daily use articles.
Commissioner of Karachi, Shafiq Piracha, Secretary to the Governor Hifzur Rehman, Deputy Commissioner, Central, Javeed Hanif, SSP Abdul Majeed Dasti and other government officials and representatives of the participating NGOs were also present on the occasion.
The governor later visited Eid Rifahi Bazar set up in Korangi area.
