Corps commander reviews desilting work in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: Corps Commander Gujranwala, Lt. Gen. Agha Jehangir Ali Khan has said that Pakistan Army will continue to participate in all projects of national importance with an aim to put the country on the road to progress and prosperity.

While reviewing desiltation work being carried out jointly by the Army, the people of the area and employees of concerned departments at Ram Nagar minor and Alipur minor near Rasool Nagar, the corps commander observed that agriculture is the backbone of our country's economy, and by ensuring that irrigation water reaches the lands at the tail ends of water channels we could increase our agricultural production.

He was briefed by Army officials about various aspects of the campaign with the help of maps and charts. The Commissioner Gujranwala Division, the DC, high Army officials, jawans and many people of the area participating in the campaign were present on the occasion.

He directed Army officials to pay special attention to redressing growers' complaints, particularly regarding water theft.

Later, he also reviewed desiltation work at Gajra Golla distributory and was told that 70 percent work has been carried out on this 45 km long water channel, while the remaining would be completed within stipulated time. APP
