6 months special remission given to all convicts

ISLAMABAD: The President Mohammad Rafiq Tarar has granted six months special remission to all convicts, except those convicted of espionate, subversion, rape, terrorism and other heinous crimes.

The remission has also been granted in some other cases which include:

Ñ One year special remission to the prisoners convicted for life imprisonment.

Ñ Six months special remission to all other convicts except condemned prisoners and those convicted of espionate, subversion, anti-state activities, gang rape, terrorism, kidnapping, abduction, dacoities and those undergoing sentences under the Foreigner Act, 1946.

Ñ Total remission to male prisoners who are 70 years of age and above and have suffered substantive sentence for 10 years or more.

Ñ Total remission to female prisoners who are 65 years of age and above and have suffered substantive sentence for 10 years or more.

Ñ Remission of one year to female prisoners who have infant children and are serving sentence for crimes other than culpable homicide. APP
