Indiscriminate
use of cosmetics
may damage skin
LAHORE: Long and indiscriminate use of cosmetics on the fragile female skin could cause premature aging, said skin specialist Prof Atif Hasnain Kazmi.
Talking to APP, Prof Atif, the head of the Skin Department, Ganga Ram Hospital, said that the use of cosmetics such as bleach creams, scrubs and heavy moisturisers may give a temporary glow and sheen to the skin, but in the long run these and other camouflaging cosmetic items hasten the process of skin aging, prior to its natural time.
Moreover, people with oily, sensitive skins with pimples and acne, or showing signs of 'photosensitivity' should avoid the use of scrubs, bleach creams and so-called skin whiteners, as these could aggravate their problem further.
"A patch test of all cosmetics prior to use is recommended", he added.ÑAPP
