HYDERABAD: The Secretary, Local Government, Sindh, has ordered the registration of a criminal case against the accountant of the Municipal Committee, Thatta, Liaquat Ali Soomro, for misappropriation of government funds.

This was stated by the Director, Local Government, Hyderabad, Ali Ahmed Lund, who visited Thatta Town on Friday.

He said the accountant had withdrawn Rs 10,000 from the bank by forging the signatures of the administrator and chief executive officer of the Thatta Municipal Committee.

He directed the administrator to lodge an FIR at the police station immediately.

Lund also found 12 employees absent from duty during a checking of record.

He directed the administrator to submit a detailed report in this regard and withhold the payment of salaries to the absent employees.

He also ordered the suspension of Chilya Union Council Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Baloch for misguiding the Army Monitoring Cell and showing the absent employees as present.

He also suspended 12 employees of the Chilya Union Council, who had remained absent for a long period.
