CAA service regulations approved
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority board, after intensive deliberations, has finally approved the CAA service regulations to end the uncertainty hanging over 8,500 CAA employees for almost a decade, according to a reliable source.
With service regulations of its own, the long outstanding demand of CAA employees for better working environment and attractive service conditions have been fulfilled. "This was absolutely necessary to boost the morale of the workers, which had touched rock bottom after the October 12 hijacking incident," a CAA official remarked.
With the implementation of CAA regulations, the regular CAA employees will have a proper career development opportunity for promotions as no promotion post will henceforth be filled by direct induction from outside. Further, the CAA will have its own promotion committee enabling the deserving workers to grow with the organisation. This will go a long way in improving the efficiency of CAA workers, the official pointed out.
All those employees whose increments were frozen on reaching the ceiling in their respective scales for last several years, will automatically move over to the next scale. This will enable them to get annual increment resulting in substantial increase in their salary. This is being termed as a major achievement of the CAA management.
Similarly the most pressing demand of CAA employees to provide medical cover to the parents depending on them has also been fulfilled. Since the lower staff and the middle management will be the main beneficiary of these incentives, it is being viewed as a major breakthrough, special in the light of the recent decision to curb the ancillary benefits of top CAA management.
