Nine killed, 10 hurt

CHINIOT: Nine people were killed and 10 others injured in a collision between a commuter wagon and a passenger train here on Sunday evening.

According to details, a Sargodha-bound computer wagon (LPT-633) while crossing the railway line, at Embassy More (5-kms of here), collided with a speeding Lala Mousa-bound 215-up passenger train at about 9.15 a.m. Six persons died on the spot while three others succumbed to injuries at a local hospital.

The dead were identified as Nadeem Ahmed s/o Fareed Ahmad, (Faisalabad), Nadir Ahmed s/o Mohammad Yar (Faisalabad), while rest of the seven killed have not been identified as yet.

The injured were identified as Jameela Bibi (Faisalabad), Jamal-ud-Din, (Faisalabad), Masood Ahmed (Chiniot), Mohammad Hafeez (Faisalabad), Mohammad Siddique (Faisalabad), Mohammad Ismail (Kohat), Bashiran Bibi (Faisalabad), and Mohammad Amin (Laki Marwat). The two of the injured remained unidentified.

On the information the Railway Divisional Department, Police DIG and Faisalabad Commissioner reached the spot to supervise the relief and rescue operation.ÑAPP
