Eid shopping gain momentum

ISLAMABAD: With the Eid-ul-Fitr just a week away, the Eid shopping is picking up as the main shopping centers in twin cities are virtually packed with customers who are seen busy in selecting the best pair for the joyous day.

Though government employees have to wait a little as spectre of millennium bug has forced the banks to close their transactions on last Saturday of the month to ward off any mishap. This resulted in delay in the delivery of the employees salaries on the first of the new year.

Now, government employees are expected to get their salaried on Monday hence the hustle and bustle at the shopping centers will further increase specially after Iftar.

The cloth shops, boutiques, stalls selling garments or footwears and bangles have to double their salesmen to cater to the Eid rush on Sunday.

CDA weekly bazaars too are doing a roaring business these days as the common perception among the folks is that things are relatively in low rate.

An unusual rush of people indicate that one can have both clothes and items of daily-use at reasonable rates from weekly bazaars.

After all so many people cannot be wrong in deciding to visit weekly bazaars instead of opting for shopping from the glittering shopping centers in the twin cities.

The main shopping centers have illuminated their facades with multicolour decoration to lure in more customers.

If one happen to be either in the Super Market, Jinnah Super, Aabpara or in main shopping centers in Sadr, Raja Bazaar or Moti Bazaar one is struck with an unusual rush of customers.

The twin cities Administration has taken certain measures to tighten the security round the shopping centers but still the people must co-operate with it in ensuring their own safety particularly owing to Eid rush these days. APP
