Changes to be made in FIA working at airports
ISLAMABAD: The government is considering to bring about changes in the functioning of Immigration and Passport and FIA, especially at airports.
The changes are aimed at facilitating the people and to make the public service departments free of corruption, official sources told APP here on Sunday.
Necessary steps have already been initiated to improve their working including computerisation of data and information. Female staff would be appointed at public counters.
Interior Minister Lt Gen Moinud Din Haider (Retd) has directed FIA and other departments dealing with immigration and passport to form advisory groups, consisting of members of general public to benefit from their opinion for achieving the desired results.
He has asked heads of all departments to re-examine the role and structure of their respective department within 15 to 30 days.
He advised them to take prompt notice of public complaints, ensuring that every query and complaint from public should be replied within 15 days.
The ministry of interior is actively considering to set up a Research Wing to monitor the performance of departments under the ministry and to help in fighting crime. APP
