Anti-Pakistan propaganda Indian TV news channels go overboard

KARACHI: Indian TV news channels, including Zee TV and government-run 'Doordarshan' have devoted a total of four hours of their transmissions of news, daily since Christmas to Junary 2, 2000, to carry news stories and comments from 'experts' directly aimed against Pakistan and seeking to make out that in the Indian plane hijacking Pakistan was involved, reports UPP special correspondent.

Even in the normal news coverage of events related to the plane hijacking, the effort of both 'Doordarshan' and Zee TV has been to level allegations against Pakistan and in the process that have even black-painted Nepal, accusing it of failing make proper security provisions for air flights from Khatmandu airport, a charge flatly denied by the Nepalese foreign minister and Nepalese Civil Aviation Authorities.

In another development the Indian news media were also alleging that the IAL plane hijackers were in Pakistan, while Pakistan authorities denied it.

Meanwhile a campaign is also under way on Indian TV and radio to charge that terrorism is being patronised by Pakistan, and all the time Indian analysts on TV and radio keep saying that India and the USA are working together in the context of the new 'findings' by India on terrorism conveyed to the USA officially. Pakistani denials of the Indian charges are carried at the tail end of news broadcasts on both Zee TV and Doordarshan and the new news channels opened in India. APP
