KARACHI: Pakistan has been invited to participate in the Commonwealth-Nigeria Investment Conference, Abuja, Nigeria from February 28 to March 1, 2000 being organised by the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) jointly with the Federal Government of Nigeria. This conference is intended to help mobilise increased Commonwealth private-sector investment in Nigeria.

CBC was established in 1997 by the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Edinburgh, to act as a bridge for co-operation between business and government to promote policies that enhance trade and investment within the Commonwealth.

It has already attracted a private sector membership of over 120 corporations from 21 countries across the Commonwealth and has undertaken a range of activities to encourage partnership, development and growth of trade and investment in the Commonwealth. These have included two successful Commonwealth Business Fora, in London (1997) and in Johannesburg in December 1999 which was addressed by 10 Heads of Governments.
