ISE index up 37.41 points

ISLAMABAD: Speculative forces and manipulators dominated the changing hand activity at the Islamabad Stock Exchange.

ISE network index witnessed an increase of 37.41 points on Thursday as it moved from 5,681.64 to 5,719.05 points.

The trade volume moved from 20,422,100 shares to 21,206,220 shares by the time traders called it a day.

In total (174) stocks participated in trading during the day, gainers outclassed losers at a clear ratio of 112:33, respectively while (29) stocks remained glued to their previous levels.

The market resumed trading on a bullish note following buying spree in communication, fuel and energy sectors. Equities moved in positive direction and market went up to 60 points.

Correction checked the market in the second session and it moved down to 20 points plus and finally closed with healthy sentiment, said an ISE director Mohammad Safdar Kazi.

The participation of foreign fund managers and commercial banks was clearly evident from expansion of overall turnover of core scrips in both the sessions. The fundamentals of the market are still strong and it may witness healthy rallies in next week, he added.

PTCL was plus by 45 paisa on a business of 19,265,500 shares as it opened at Rs 28.80 and was closed at Rs 29.25. Second heavyweight ICI Pakistan soared by 35 paisa during trading of 525,000 shares as it started the day at Rs 12.60 and was closed at Rs 12.95. PSO resumed trading at Rs 238 and was closed at Rs 241.55. It showed an increase of Rs 3.55 on a business of 293,600 shares. FFC Jordan opened at Rs 12.70 and was closed at Rs 12.95. FFC Fertilizer gained a quarter of a rupee on a business of 88,500 shares. Engro Chemicals opened at Rs 124.15 and was closed at Rs 124.85 and Fauji fertilizer was up by Rs 4.15 on a business of 35,000 shares.

Among the major gainers, Lever Brother's took a jump of Rs 51, Knoll Pharmaceutical gained Rs 13, Millat Tractors showed an increase of Rs 9.50, Attock Refinery was surged by Rs 8.75, BOC Pak Rs 4, MCB gained Rs 3.90, Telecard Ltd. was plus by Rs 3.25, Pakistan Oilfields and Abbot Laboratories gained Rs 3 each, Jehangir Siddiqui and Co., Saritow Spinning, Crescent Steel and United Carpets were plus by Rs 2 each, Nishat Mills gained Rs 1.70, Bank of Punjab soared by Rs 1.65, First Capital Security and Blessed Textile were up by Rs 1.40 each.
