MULTAN: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has allegedly shelved a number of enquiries against influential politicians, the elected representatives including MNAs and MPAs and administrators appointed on political basis, reliable sources told Business Recorder here.

Official record shows that crime circle Multan region was directed by the headquarter to hold enquiries against MNAs, MPAs about the misappropriation of development funds, distribution of articles among public.

Over 47 special enquiries out of total 80 are still pending at Multan crime office.

A number of cases were investigated, closed by inspector level officials without facts findings, even the FIA failed to get proper record or other details by its own resources and completely depended upon the accused versions.

The FIA conducted special enquiries about the alleged misappropriation of funds in the schemes of peoples works programme could not deliver fruits.

The enquiries are pending against Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani about 64 schemes, Mehr Mohammad Iqbal Haraj (ex-MNA) about 100 schemes in district Khanewal, Mumtaz Bhabha (ex-MNA) about 28 schemes, Ch. Nouraze Shakoor Khan (ex-MNA) about 44 schemes, Sardar Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari about 17 schemes and Mehr Ahmad urmani (ex-administrator) about 12 schemes.

The FIA conducted enquiries against four MNAs Pir Riaz Hussain Qureshi, Malik Mukhtar Awan, Mirza Mohammad Nasir Baig, Rana Taj Ahmed Noon and nine influentials Salah-ud-Din, Sardar Maqsood Ahmed Leghari (ex-MPA), Sardar Umer Khan Leghari, Sardar Dawood, Sardar Atta Mohammad Khitran, Sardar Nazar Hussain Kulachi, Sardar Fateh Muhammad Buzdar, Sardar Dilawar Hussain and Sardar Zahoor.

The FIA failed to trace any record or could prove them guilty. The enquiries are still incomplete for the last eight years.

Two enquiries were initiated in district Bahawalpur against two ex-MNAs Malik Farooq Azam and Shanaz Begum, without proper maintaining record.

Bahawalpur FIA crime circle shelved enquiry against former agriculture minister Abdul Sattar Lalika on the directions of the then Nawaz government.

The special enquiry about the misappropriation of articles was conducted against Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani by FIA crime circle, still pending. Official report shows that four motor cycles were supplied to him but he could not provide the list of distribution to enquiry officer.

Former federal minister Malik Mukhtar Awan was supplied 467 sewing machines and 168 cycles but he failed to provide list of distribution.

Ex-MNA Mirza Nasir Baig was supplied 201 sewing machines and 168 cycles but could not provide distribution list to the enquiry officer.

Rana Taj Ahmed Noon, ex-MNA was supplied 127 sewing machines and 157 cycles but he could distribute only 20 machines and 17 cycles.

Ex-MPA Abbas Ali Ansari was supplied 21 machines and 32 cycles. Only 16 sewing machines and 32 cycles could be distributed. He failed to provide list of remaining articles.

Over 40 cycles were supplied to ex-MPA Syed Nazim Shah, only 35 cycles could be distributed by him.

Ex-MPA Malik Ishaq Bucha was supplied 32 sewing machines and 23 cycles but the FIA failed to trace any record in this regard. Ex-MPA Syed Ashiq Hussain did not provide distribution list of 32 sewing machines.
