CE inspects NWFP desilting

operation

TAKHT BHAI (Mardan): The Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf on Thursday inspected the desilting work in NWFP and reviewed the progress of the on-going national campaign.

On his arrival here he was received by NWFP Governor Lt Gen Mohammad Shafiq (Retd).

Major General Atif Duraiz GOC and Brig Mushtaq Ahmad Commander Engineers briefed the Chief Executive about desilting work in the province. They said that 86 percent work has been completed.

So far 372 channels of 1,850 miles length have been desilted with the help of 19,000 workforce which includes 6,000 armymen.

Musharraf was informed that this year Rs 15 million are being spent on the campaign, while in previous years Rs 66 million were spent which shows a significant saving. APP
