LAHORE: The judges of the Lahore High Court were administered oath in an impressive ceremony, held at the Governor House here on Wednesday morning, under the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) No.1 of 2000, promulgated by the Chief Executive of Pakistan.
Punjab Governor Lt. Gen. Mohammad Safdar (Retd) administered the oath to the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, Justice Rashid Aziz Khan, who later administered the oath to other judges.
Punjab Chief Secretary Hafeez Akhtar Randhawa, read out the order promulgated by the chief executive, prior to the oath-taking ceremony.
Justice Ehsanul Haq Chaudhry and Justice Najamul Hassan Kazmi did not come to the Governor House for oath-taking.
The ceremony was attended by high ranking civil and military officials, besides Lahore Corps Commander, Police IG, DIG, Advocate General, Deputy Attorney General and provincial secretaries.
The judges who took the oath included Justice Falak Sher, Justice Mian Allah Nawaz, Justice Tanvir Ahmad Khan, Justice Nazir Akhtar, Justice Malik Mohammad Qayyum, Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday, Justice Mohammad Nasim Chaudhri, Justice Mohammad Asif Jan, Justice Amir Alam Khan, Justice Karamat Nazir Bhandari, Justice Fakhar-un-Nisa Khokhar, Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry, Justice M. Javed Buttar, Justice Munir Ahmad Mughal, Justice Zafar Pasha Chaudhary, Justice Ch. Ijaz Ahmad, Justice Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema, Justice Riaz Kayani, Justice Syed Jamshed Ali, Justice Khwaja Mohammad Sharif, Justice Syed Zahid Hussain, Justice Mian Mohammad Najam-uz-Zaman, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa and Justice Ghulam Mehmood Qureshi.
Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court Justice Rashid Aziz Khan summoned a meeting of the judges in his chamber before going to the Governor House.
LHC Multan, Bahawalpur BENCHES
MULTAN: The Judges of Lahore High Court, Multan and Bahawalpur Benches, took oath under the Provisional Constitution Order No 1, 1999 (Amended).
Punjab minister for law and parliamentary affairs, Dr Khalid Ranjha administered the oath by representing the governor.
The oath-taking cermony was held here on Wednesday at the Circuit House. Multan Commissioner Nasir Mehmood Khosa read the order issued by Punjab Governor Mohammad Safdar. Khalid Ranjha was nominated for oath-taking.
The eight judges belonging to Multan bench are Mr Justice Tassadaq Hussain Jilani, Mr Justice Akhtar Shabbir, Mr Justice Molvi Anwar-ul-Haq, Mr Justice Naeemullah Sherwani, Mr Justice Ali Nawaz Chohan, Mr Justice Naseem Sikandar, Mr Justice Bashir A Mujahid, and Mr Justice Jawad S Khawaja.
The three judges from Bahawalpur bench are Mr Justice Raja Mohammad Sabir, Mr Justice Mian Zafar Yasin and Mr Justice Nazir Siddique.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Multan DIG Shaukat Javed, Vice-Chancellor, BZ University, Dr Ashiq Mohammad Khan Durani, GOC Multan, Deputy Commissioner Rao Shakil Ahmed, SSPs, members of Punjab Bar Council Malik Ramzan Khalid and Arif Alvi, District and Sessions Judge, Multan, Additional Judges, standing council, Assistant Advocate General and officials belonging to various departments.
LHC Pindi Bench
RAWALPINDI: Five judges of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench took oath under PCO-1 here on Wednesday.
Those who took oath included Justice Mohammad Nawaz Abbasi, Justice Fakir Mohammad Khokar, Justice Abdul Razzaq Sheikh, Justice Mumtaz Ali Mirza and Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.
Punjab Senior Minister Akhtar Saeed as a nominee of the Punjab governor administered the oath to the judges in a simple ceremony held here at the Punjab House.
Besides Assistant Advocate General Raja Saeed Akram, Standing Counsel Sajjad Hussain Shah a number of senior members of the High Court Bar Association were also present on the occasion.

QUETTA: All the five judges of Balochistan High Court including Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry were administered oath under Provisional Constitution Order (PCO) here on Wednesday morning.
Balochistan Governor Justice Amirul Mulk Mengal (Retd) administered the oath at a simple ceremony held at Governor House. The other four judges who took oath included Mr Justice Jawed Iqbal, Mr Justice Amanullah Yasinzai, Mr Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Mr Justice Fazlur Rehman.
Quetta Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Mushtaq Hussain, provincial ministers, Balochistan Advocate General Mohammad Ashraf Tanoli and High Court Bar Association President Hadi Shakeel Ahmed and senior government officials were also present. APP
