Governor visits jail
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: Sindh Governor Azeem Daudpota said on Wednesday that cases of persons accused of minor offences are being reviewed for their release from prisons.
The governor was on a visit to the Karachi Central Jail to see for himself the conditions of prisoners serving different terms for major and minor crimes.
He said that a large number of offenders were not being produced in courts for a long time either because they had committed minor offences or for different administrative reasons.
The governor said four committees had been constituted to review all such cases in the light of existing law and make recommendations for appropriate relief.
Daudpota said so far more than 2,000 prisoners had been released in Sindh. The recommendations of these committees would bring relief for more people, he added.
